Environmental Art and Land Art | Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy
THE PLACES AND THE PROJECT:
AESON is a nature-based arts project taking place in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in North-East Italy, along the Isonzo River and other rural and natural contexts.
It is a forest festival, a path of artistic and social research, and a community working at the intersection of art, landscape and sustainability.
One of the central thematic lines for the coming years will be liminality: borders, thresholds, passages, transformations, margins between the natural and the human, the visible and the invisible, the temporary and the permanent.
What we are looking for
This is not a traditional project-based open call.
We wish to connect with Italian and international artists interested in developing collaborations for AESON projects in 2026–2027–2028 and beyond.
We are particularly interested in:
- Land artists and environmental artists;
- Researchers developing artistic practices in dialogue with landscape and intangible heritage;
- Sculptors primarily working with natural materials;
- Site-specific practices engaging rural and river landscapes;
- Practitioners working with installations and festival scenography.
Will the work be paid?
Yes. Selected artists will receive a fee.
Production support, accommodation and working conditions will be discussed and defined according to the specific project and scale of the intervention.
